THE LUCIFER – RIV-V

Mouahahahaaa! Welcome to Hell!!

To cross this rapid you have 4 alternatives:

  • Make a stop to view this fast in order to take the right decision.
  • If you're reckless, take the right river line and you will end up paying a visit to the hindquarters of Lucifer!! (This whirlpool is known as Lucifer's Anus) Recall waves awaits you and it is not recommended.
  • Center line, The Guardian-Angel, is composed of roller waves that makes it a very technical descent. We however recommend caution.
  • The river’s left line, God’s Lamb, will be more secure without depriving yourself of any thrills. A tip, if you capsize in this line and you find yourself in swimmer situation, hurry and swim towards river’s right immediately.
*Note that early in the season it can reach level VI
THE RAVEN – RIV-V threshold

As soon as you’re at a few meters from this rapid, your heart begins to throb and pound!
At the sight of the lumber debris accumulation on your right and the weeping on your left, you’ll find the path that lies between the two obstacles… so it's a point of no return.

THE LOG DRIVER'S DANCE – RIII-IV

As soon as you’re at a few meters from this rapid, your heart begins to throb and pound!
At the sight of the lumber debris accumulation on your right and the weeping on your left, you’ll find the path that lies between the two obstacles… so it's a point of no return.

THE HIGH VOLTAGE – RIV-V

Impressive panoramic view of sparkling granite! This rapid is the longest and most imposing of our whitewater section.
Suggestions:

  • River’s right, make a stop to view and study this rapid to make the right decision before crossing it. Your technical skills will be put to the test.
  • It is important not to find yourself in a swimmer situation because the « The Wall » rapid is not far away and waiting for you!
THE WALL – RIV

Bearing its name well, in fact, the WALL is a wave!
Suggestions:

  • The preferred line is the center one because we are entering a jackknife that goes from 3 to 4 feet in height and sometimes more.
  • After crossing this wave, we find ourselves in a « pool » area therefore no possibility of losing our occupants. All you need is a good « fisherman » guide!
  • To river’s far right, there’s the « chicken run » for the less brave, but you never know!
THE CEDARS – RIV-V threshold

Let yourselves be guided, we'll take the far right line. As long as you didn’t get passed it, it’s hard to describe the feelings that awaits you, because each person reacts differently and experience their own sensations. Your comments are more then welcome!

THE BONNET ROUGE – RIII-IV

It’s the most beautiful… it’s our BABY!!
This rapid, composed of pyramidal waves makes it a safe playground for anyone who wants to experience the thrill and also have crazy fun!

Suggestions:

  • You can practice surfing on waves, go up and down the rapid without even touching land. The countercurrent is very strong which facilitates going back up the rapid.
  • You can access this rapid without even navigating the entire river! It’s located at the river’s exit point to the Bonnet Rouge Rafting’s camping site.
  • You can enjoy board surfing, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, « BODY SURF » (let yourself slide, swimming through the rapid).
  • The Bonnet Rouge rapid is the only one accessible by land on the Gatineau River, directly form The Bonnet Rouge Rafting’s site.
